HELP FOR THE TERRIFIED
(AND NOT SO TERRIFIED!)
My name is Karen Diesnerand I am a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). I specialise in giving those people who have suffered traumatic experiences when learning to drive hope and belief in themselves. Often the way forward is my automatic car, but sometimes the manual car is fine and all that is needed is a change of approach. There is more to learning to drive than just the car - your instructor is by far the most important part of the equation. I hope I can be of help to you.
Why Choose Me?
I have been graded "excellent throughout" (Grade 6) by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). This grading means that my instruction falls within the top 7% in England. Please click on this link if you would like to see the DSA statistics on driving instructor quality: www.dft.gov.uk/dsa/Documents/FOI/2010/IA0271410.pdf I am also a member of the DIA (Driving Instructors Association) and a registered Pass Plus instructor. If English is not your first language don't worry, providing you have enough English to understand basic driving commands - I have a lot of experience in teaching non-English learners to drive. I have also taught people with dyslexia and a certain amount of dyspraxia.
Learning with Karen means plenty of support. Driving is surely one of the most important skills you will acquire in your lifetime - I make sure you really understand the principles involved. All my students receive a "Learning to Drive Pack", containing everything you need for the journey, free of charge.
Theory Test Support
I am very keen to help my pupils in any way I can, so I recently joined forces with Theory Test Pro. My pupils get full access to Theory Test Pro complete with Hazard Perception free of charge - prospective clients can also click on the link below and try out a sample Theory Test. Theory Test Pro has support for non-English speakers with another 40 languages to choose from.

Automatic Driving Lessons - Why struggle?
Automatic driving is becoming more and more popular. During the last 10 years improvements in car design and technology mean that any size car is now available with an economical and reliable automatic transmission. Modern multi-mode transmissions also now allow you to change gear - but without needing a clutch. My automatic car is a Honda Jazz, which is comfortable for people of all heights (awaiting picture).
Automatic cars have only two pedals, the accelerator and the footbrake. Both pedals are operated by your right foot. The car decides when to change gear. You can concentrate fully on the road without needing to think about controlling a clutch and deciding which gear to use. You cannot stall an automatic car!
It's much easier, and far less stressful than driving a manual car.
Why not book a trial automatic driving lesson and see for yourself how easy it is to learn in an automatic?
You need to remember that a pass in an automatic car means you are entitled to drive only automatics - but with the range now available, this is hardly a problem!
Manual Driving Lessons
My manual car is a Peugeot 207 1.4 Hdi fitted with dual controls. This car has the highest 5-Star NCAP safety rating, all-round airbags and ABS braking.
The advantage of taking manual driving lessons is that after passing, you can drive either a manual or an automatic car.
I have a range of lessons to suit most requirements. Please take a look at the other pages on my website for details of these, and if you don’t see what you need, please contact me anyway and I’ll be pleased to see what I can do for you.
